In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most
Merciful
ED. NOTE (2005): The following was written prior to summer
of 1998, and still stands. Since than a lot has happened in current events of
the world, but those who have been with us can reflect back when they initially
found TalkIslam.com, and how it may (or not) have been useful to their endeavor
of finding the information being searched - and the continued progress made
thereafter, alhumdullilah.
Dear Brothers/Sisters:
We have introduced an Islamic Internet web portal, directory, and search
engine at http://www.talkislam.com. The initial objectives are, but not limited
to:
- Classify all Islam-related topics and issues, references, resources,
services, and tools available on the Internet websites.
- Learn about all sects and groups claiming to be followers of the religion
of Islam. Learn about other World religions and how we can educate and
overcome the general misconception related to Islam.
- Open new possibilities for entirely new Islamic websites, new economies
of publication & distribution, and new roles for both authors & readers
wanting to learn and study Islam.
- Introduce authenticity on authorship and readership, textual
authenticity, and the rights of authors.
- Educate others and us Muslims by sharing and utilizing each other's
talent, resources, services, and tools.
In Sister Huma Ahmad's (jannah.org) words, " Facing all these positives and
negatives, Muslims in cyberspace are at a turning point. The net and modern
technology has created situations that are unlike any we have had to face in
the past. As a microcosm and extension of our Muslim society, understanding and
helping solve our problems on the net can be a first step in understanding the
Muslims as a whole, our differences and how to resolve them. If we find UNITY
on the Internet, there is hope for our UMMAH."
Talk Islam is a product of all Islam related websites on the Internet. Talk
Islam would not exist or be comprehensive, comparative, and complex without all
the confusion and understanding arising from the non-Muslim search engines
promoting Islamic related websites.
Criticism is healthy given in a positive and constructive aspect. We are
open-minded individuals willing to listen and learn. This will enable Talk
Islam website to better itself. Though, all matters will be decided on the
basis of benefit to majority of the Internet audience of the website.
The work being undertaken on Talk Islam is just the start. As one Ummah,
please help in making Talk Islam a better website for Muslims and the world
audience to come together to introduce Islam with a positive vision.
We look forward to your continued support of our endeavor. Webmaster's,
please add a link of TalkIslam.com on your website. And lastly folks, please
continue to remind your friends and family members about TalkIslam.com,
insha'Allah.
wa Salaam/ fi-Amanillah, (PEACE & BLESSINGS)
TalkIslam.com team effort
